Friday 27th September 11am | 7 to 12 years
Join us for a workshop and launch of the Massive Book of Jokes for Kids Only with illustator and cartoonist Phil Judd.
Come along and join Illustrator/Cartoonist Phil Judd in launching a new joke book that he has illustrated for Scholastic Children’s Books. The book is called 'Massive Book of Jokes for Kids Only!'
In this session Phil will talk about working on the book as an Illustrator and his approach to creating the images.
Phil will cover how to create ideas for jokes with the group. He will also give simple drawing tips on creating your own images for a joke. Or any idea! This activity will include time for the children to take what they are shown and draw up their own ideas for some sample jokes. Alternatively, they can bring their own jokes to illustrate.
Just like a proper Illustrator, they will sketch up their drawing. They will then have a chance to ink it as well, creating a professional looking image, just like Phil did for the Joke Book.
All materials are supplied and each child will receive a copy of the 'Massive Book of Jokes for Kids Only!' Phil will be happy to sign books for all those attending on the day.
About the book:
Jam-packed with over 800 jokes! You'll laugh at these face-squishing, knee-buckling, belly-aching gags! Q: Where do fish go on holidays? A: Finland. Q: What never sleeps for long and always needs changing? A: A baby. Q: Why don’t athletes like kangaroos? A: Because they always beat them at long jump. Q: How do you make butter fly? A: You throw toast out the window. Q: What do elephants swim in? A: Trunks.
